The APEX Magnum delivers great on-the-water performance. This wide body-low profile baitcast provides the power and durability you need with increased line capacity and a super strong and smooth drag rated at 17.6 lbs. Featuring ten stainless steel ball bearings, extra long carbon fiber handle that won’t bend or break, and the patent pending Drag Tracking Technology DTT gives you the casting distance and fish fighting power needed in an inshore reel. The patent pending “Drag Tracking Technology” system on the new Ardent Magnum Reel allows the level wind eyelet to track in parallel with the line location on the spool as line is being pulled from the reel in drag mode. This reduces the chance of line break on large fish by eliminating the sharp angles caused by the level wind eyelet being out of sync with the line location on the spool in drag mode as is the case on all other reels
I was at a fishing expo and I needed to get a add a few bass setups to my arsenal. I bought an elite, a grande, a flipping model, and a magnum. I kept the elite and the magnum and gave the grande and the flipping reel to my brother. He fishes for bass much more than I do. (5 stars on the elite, grande, and flipping reel) the first time I cast the magnum it made a horrible sound and vibrated in my hand. Tried making adjustments to it with no luck. Sent it in for repairs. It came back with the same problem and the drag was making the same noise and vibration when line is pulled from it. Sent it back once again, comments said they lubed and replaced drag washers or something. The reel was still having the same issue, I doubt they ever tested it to see if it was working. Due to me being in the military and deployments and it sitting in a box it’s over it’s 3 year warranty by now most likely. Maybe I just got a bad reel, I don’t know. I haven’t thrown it away yet, but I probably should. With all of the shipping cost I really don’t feel like I should keep throwing money away on a lost cause. It’s too bad, because we really like all of our other Ardent reels, but such a bad experience with the magnum has made me very hesitant to buy another Ardent reel.
Holds a ton of line. Very smooth and can handle big baits. My go to reel for swimbaits and top water
Wide spool holds a lot of heavy line! Perfect for my big swimbaits! Paired with the 7’11” XH I have the torque I need to wrench in fish from long casts with a Slammer or a glide bait! Also have used a Magnum for bottom fishing in the bay for Fluke and Seabass and even landed a 28lb Striper on a bucktail with it!
This reel is a absolute workhorse made to bring in big fish that take out a lot of line!!! I will be buying a second one!!
great reel hold lots of line for swim baits. handles big fish well.
Very Good reel as well Yes I have this one too and its fast and strong smoothly casting..
Awesome reel! I use mine mostly for larger swimbaits and it performs flawlessly
Great reel for big line test.I run 30lb on mine without any issues.Great for flipping.
Awesome reel. casts like a dream & a very smooth drag. great for jerkbaits & squarebill crankbaits.
I use this reel on my big swimbait rod and love it! It's a bigger reel that can hold the heavier line I use to throw those big baits. I've caught numerous big spots and stripers on this reel and it has stood the test! Smooth drag, reel, and looks good too!
I have been using my Magnum as a light musky reel. Awesome casting heavier baits, great drag!! Looks a bit small for musky, but don't be fooled, awesome choice for those toothy critters!
Wish we could get this in Left Handed!
Smooth and allows me to cast MUCH further than I could before. Drag is nice for big pike and walleye that get in the way of bass.
Awesome reel you can not beat the price for the quality or the waranty
Awesome reel. Well made, smooth, solid, casts great!
This is my go to tough reel for cranking big fish! Strong aluminum frame and power you can count on when it matters most.
I have 2 apex magnums that I use for big swim baits and Alabama rigs. I just ordered my 3rd one to be able to handle the big glide baits.
I am hard on fishing reels , hardly ever rinse them off and that's in saltwater , but this reel holds tough and looks like new after months of use ,,, very pleased , WORK HORSE REEL.
The new Apex Magnum reel is truly unbelievable. Very well priced compared to the competitor brands, casts a country mile, looks and feels great! From cranking to flipping, this reel does it all!
The Apex Magnum is very unique compared to other Apex Reels. The frame is larger due to the high capacity spool and it's has some features the others don't. Apex Magnum is saltwater approved and its the only one to feature DTT. If you throw big swimbaits or fish in-shore for Reds / Trout / Stripers, this is the reel for you!
Easily the best reel that I own. The ten bearings make for very smooth operation and the drag is second to none. This reel out preforms my other more costly reels!
