Summit Hawk Baitcasting Reel

Now having owned and using this reel for a few years, I am pretty pleased with the quality, the weight, the size and the absolutely amazing smoothness of this reel… It is as smooth as my Original XS and XS1000 reels, which is a major selling point of Ardent Reels…. I gave it 4 Star because I have found the casting/centrifugal brake to be inconsistent especially when I compare it to the XS, XS1000 and Apex Grande… The brake just doesn’t act the same cast after cast similar to Garcia 4600 reel than Ardent… Again, mine is an early model so I would expect newer ones to act better…

Extremely smooth , fits like a glove in my hands and the knobs are the same Easy to dial in with the side magnetic dial Casts far , Drag is very smooth also I like the easy access side plate to oil bearings because I use it heavy in salt and brackish water. It’s my best reel in my arsenal now

I own 4 of these reels in the 8:4:1 and they are outstanding. Tons of performance phenomenal price point.

Awesome reel! I was using the Apex Elite and Elite Lightning for flipping. Switched to the Summit .. love it! Still love the Apex and Lightning as well but the Summit balances flipping rids out perfect

This reel is very smooth and casts a mile I’m very pleased with the outcome of the engineering behind the summit hawk reel. I’m looking forward to seeing the future of this design through ardent reels A++

I've been with Ardent since the days of the XS-1000 and this reel is by far the best yet. I've fished with high end Diawa and Shimano reels and these are every bit as good. I just purchase two more!

I love the Summit Hawk. Smooth casting, easy retrieve.... I love mine for top water baits. I feel like it gives me an edge to catch up to the fish when they hit it and run. Ardent Reels definitely rule the water...

Generally a little hesitant to purchase items as soon as they hit the shelves unless I was involved with a prototype testing, however I went ahead and ordered two of these immediately after watching JT Kenny's video for the release. I am a huge Apex Grand fan and own 28 Grands that get used regularly, but the Grand now has competition in the rod locker on my boat. This reel is very smooth, light weight, durable and looks great. I used the reel all day and had zero complaints about performance, truly impressed, and highly recommend the Summit Reel.

I have fished all the Ardent reels in the lineup for 4 years now, and this is the best reel to date. You can feel the quality from the minute you take it out of the box. The weight is perfect, the feel is comfortable in your hand, the EVA knobs and handle length are spot on. Then upon casting, it dials in easily, smooth, long casting and smooth retrieve. Ardent nailed this one. Thank you for the time and effort to produce such a great reel. Have 4 in hand with more to come.

The first thing you notice is this reel is very light. After spooling up some 17 lbs line, which when on very smoothly. I luck out and got into a school of bass. The reel had no problem fighting big fish (+6). You can cast it a mile. This is my first outing with this reel setup on a Apex jig/worm rod. If the reliable and durable is as good as the Apex Grand reels (which I have 16) I will have to consider transition to them.

This reel is the deal. Lightning quick and super light. Perfect for frogging, flippin, or any technique where you need to pick up line in a hurry.
